Holiday Blues

I know - I know my title does not seem to have any relation to running! Holidays are almost upon us and I am not sure what is going to happen to our family get togethers - considering that my son and daughter-in-law are still in mourning state. It will be very sad if we don't get to spend the holidays with them, but what can I do? Should I feel bad? For whom?

With regards to my marathon training - it is going well! Had to changed my running shoes again, but this time, I think I have the right pair. My calves are not hurting as bad - they get tight and tired but after the application of ice packs - I'm good for the rest of the day. My new running shoes? The brand is Newton! They are great - it helps eliminate heel striking.

The longest run so far for me is 14 miles! Yes, 14 MILES!!! Awesome, isn't it??? Although I'm told that half-way for a marathon is 20 miles - I'm still jazzed. I never thought I'd run 2 miles, so 14 is a very big deal.

Fundraising is also going well. I'm 58% of my personal goal. I truly appreciate everyone that have contributed.

I'm trying to find someone that can do silk-screening at a very reasonable price - having difficulty finding that. I want to have some shirts made with "Running4Sam" imprinted on them. Have to keep looking.
